What it is, and how we use it
Charging is one of the most flexible large loads on a distribution network, which makes it valuable to utilities and potentially valuable to operators who can be paid for that flexibility.
The mechanism already exists: charging profiles let the platform impose a ceiling that the charger enforces. What is not yet built is the interface that accepts a utility signal and translates it into those profiles across a fleet.
Today, load shaping is achieved through time-of-day tariff windows and enforced site ceilings, which covers the majority of practical cases.
